Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it is used, and the limited situations in which others may receive it. By continuing to use Lincoln County Criminal History, you accept these privacy practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Lincoln County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email message may be kept as needed to prepare and send a response. It remains within the site team unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a visitor loads a page, the servers automatically receive basic technical and usage details:

  • Page-view times and the pages visited
  • Device type and operating system
  • The referring site, when one is supplied
  • Browser name and version
  • The device's assigned IP address
  • Approximate time spent on pages

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files that help measure how visitors move through the site, including popular pages and exit points. Analytics providers combine this traffic information for reporting. A browser can block cookies, though disabling them may change how some site features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Diagnosing faults and resolving technical problems
  • Operating the site and maintaining page speed
  • Routing a search to the selected partner service
  • Measuring which content visitors use and where improvements are needed
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Lincoln County Criminal History does not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal-record data. It publishes general directions to the Lincoln County Sheriff, criminal courts, New Mexico Department of Public Safety repository, and New Mexico DPS Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a file about another person.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and disclosure practices govern information entered in those tools. This policy does not control a partner's processing, so review that provider's terms before submitting a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Sheriff pages, court portals, New Mexico agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's own privacy policy applies. Check it before providing personal information.

Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to tailor ads. That processing occurs on the provider's systems.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search providers processing queries submitted to their tools
  • Advertising networks serving content on the pages
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard security measures protect collected data. No internet system is completely secure, however, so the site cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.

Your Data Rights

Rights vary with location and applicable law. New Mexico's Inspection of Public Records Act, NMSA 1978 §§14-2-1 through 14-2-12, governs requests to public bodies, while NMSA 1978 §29-10-6 controls subject inspection of state arrest-record information. Those laws do not turn this private site into a public records custodian. Subject to applicable privacy law, a visitor may:

  • Object to certain kinds of processing
  • Request deletion of personal data
  • Ask to correct inaccurate information
  • Request a copy of personal information held by the site

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. An updated version will appear here with its new effective date, and continued use will be governed by the current posted policy.
